Arsenal’s preparations for the 2025/26 season are in full swing as Mikel Arteta’s men continue their pre-season tour in Singapore. The squad, which now features summer signings Kepa Arrizabalaga, Martin Zubimendi, Christian Norgaard, and Cristhian Mosquera, is building momentum ahead of their clash against Newcastle this Sunday.
One amusing highlight from their open training session at Singapore’s National Stadium on Friday saw Gabriel Martinelli accidentally steal the spotlight — and not in the way he’d have liked.
During the session, Martinelli attempted a spontaneous half-volley in front of hundreds of fans. The execution, however, was far from perfect. Although the ball’s final destination wasn’t captured on camera, Bukayo Saka’s mortified reaction — paired with Martinelli placing his hands on his head — made the outcome clear: the Brazilian’s effort had gone embarrassingly wide.
The light-hearted moment showcased the upbeat and relaxed atmosphere in the camp, with the players clearly enjoying themselves. But it also raised questions about Martinelli’s current sharpness ahead of the new campaign.
Amid rumours linking the 23-year-old with a possible move to Bayern Munich, some fans and pundits believe Arsenal could be tempted to cash in on the Brazilian if a significant offer lands on the table.
Gyokeres Set for Debut

Meanwhile, Arsenal are expecting Swedish striker Viktor Gyokeres to join the tour after completing his medical in London on Saturday. He could make his debut in red and white next week against Tottenham in the North London Derby in Hong Kong.
Fitness Updates: Gabriel & Timber
Arteta also provided updates on key defenders Gabriel Magalhaes and Jurrien Timber, both of whom are recovering from injuries. Gabriel, who missed the end of last season due to a hamstring issue, recently felt a minor niggle in training, prompting caution from the medical team.
“With Gabi, he felt a little niggle the other day in training and we didn’t want to take any risks,” Arteta said. “Hopefully, in the next week or so, he’s going to be available to train and play again.”
Timber, recovering from ankle surgery, is also nearing a return:
“With Jurrien, it’s getting very close. He’s almost ticked every box that we needed after the surgery and the rehab that he needed, and I think in the next few days he’s going to start joining the team again.”
As the Gunners gear up for another high-stakes season, Arteta will be hoping his squad — including Martinelli — hits top gear before the Premier League kicks off.
