Aaron Ramsey ignores Messi and Ronaldo, picks former Arsenal teammate as the best.

Aaron Ramsey Names His Best-Ever Teammate, Snubs Messi and Ronaldo

Former Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey recently gave his verdict on the endless GOAT debate between Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo but surprised fans by highlighting a different name as his best-ever teammate.

The Welshman, now 34, was officially unveiled as a new signing for Mexican side Pumas UNAM after leaving Cardiff City on a free transfer. During his presentation, Ramsey was asked the famous football question: Messi or Ronaldo?

“Both of them are incredible players,” Ramsey replied. “I was lucky enough to play with one of them.”

Despite his admiration for the two football icons, Ramsey revealed that the player he enjoyed sharing the pitch with the most was former Arsenal star Santi Cazorla.

“The player I’ve enjoyed playing with the most is Santi Cazorla,” he added.

Ramsey signed for Arsenal in 2008 from his boyhood club Cardiff City. After loan spells with Nottingham Forest and Cardiff, he became a key figure at the Emirates, where he played alongside Cazorla for four seasons. Together, they recorded four joint goal contributions in 117 appearances and were instrumental in Arsenal’s FA Cup victories in 2014 and 2015.

In 2019, Ramsey ended his 11-year stay at Arsenal and moved to Juventus, where he shared a dressing room with Cristiano Ronaldo. The duo played 56 matches together, combining for seven goals and lifting the Serie A title in 2020.

Ramsey also faced Messi four times in his career, twice in the Champions League when Messi played for Barcelona, and twice in Ligue 1 during Messi’s time at PSG. Ramsey’s teams managed just one win in those four encounters, with Messi victorious three times.

Despite playing with and against two of football’s greatest ever, Ramsey made it clear that, for him, no one topped the experience of lining up alongside Santi Cazorla.
