Arsenal Could Lose Summer Transfer to Tottenham

Arsenal’s hopes of finally landing Eberechi Eze this summer may be slipping away — Tottenham Hotspur have reignited their interest in the Crystal Palace midfielder.

Reports from Fabrizio Romano confirm that Spurs are “back in talks for Eberechi Eze in a separate deal from Savinho.” Tottenham’s renewed interest comes amid injury woes (James Maddison out long-term) and departures (Son Heung-min), prompting an urgent quest for creative reinforcements. Though Eze is keen on the move, the transfer hinges on Crystal Palace’s demands, especially now that his release clause has expired.

Arsenal had appeared to be leading the chase, with media reports suggesting they agreed a fee of around €63.5 million (£55 million) — including roughly €34.5 million upfront — for Eze. But no formal bid has yet been lodged with Palace.

Tottenham’s timing might just give them an edge. With both clubs reportedly able to meet Eze’s personal terms, Spurs could offer not only Champions League football but also a clearer path to a creative role — particularly with Maddison sidelined. Arsenal, meanwhile, must clear space in their squad, beginning with players like Leandro Trossard, before making a concrete move.

Amid shifting odds, some bookmakers have even adjusted to reflect the new competition — putting Tottenham “evens” with Arsenal in the race for Eze.

In short: The battle for Eberechi Eze now looks set to go down to the wire — and Spurs could emerge as the surprise front-runners, especially as Arsenal stalls on concrete action.
