Chelsea involved in major controversy over Stamford Bridge

Chelsea Football Club is presently in a major controversy over the proposed new stadium the club is to build for itself at the present location of Stamford Bridge.

Currently, the co-chairmen and co-owners of the club are Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali, and they disagree over whether the new station should be an extension of the existing or on a different site altogether. It has created internal conflict as to the future of the club and its ability to cater for the fans.

Stamford Bridge has a carrying capacity that is estimated to be about 40 thousand, making it one of the meager stadiums within the League. It is said that Boehly wants the club to relocate to another ground with proper accommodation to accommodate 60,000. However, Eghbali wants to make major changes with £1.5 billion to expand this stadium capacity to 55, 000 to remain in our iconic ground.

Boehly and Eghbali have even been referred to as a civil war at the club since the two parties are eager to purchase the other’s shares. In case Eghbali wins this battle over the boardroom, Chelsea is likely to proceed with strategies to increase Stamford Bridge capacity instead of moving. This would entail major alterations, which include the erection of concrete floors over a train track that passes close to the facilities, and will entail the club moving to a more temporary site for approximately 2 years as the works go on.

The conclusion of this internal fight will decide the future position of Chelsea as a brand and its ability to expand its audience base. The team’s fans and stakeholders are increasingly waiting to read the new direction of operations for the club.
