Ederson has officially ended his eight-year spell at Manchester City this week. The Brazilian goalkeeper has chosen to join Fenerbahce in Turkey to begin a new chapter, with Gianluigi Donnarumma set to replace him in Pep Guardiola’s squad – a major change for the City boss.
During his time in Manchester, the 32-year-old won every possible trophy, featured in 372 matches, kept 168 clean sheets, and conceded 311 goals. Ederson has already promised to return to the Etihad one day to say a proper farewell, and one of the players he’ll certainly reunite with is Erling Haaland, who has expressed his admiration for the keeper on social media.
Haaland says he’ll miss Ederson’s assists
Ederson leaves the Premier League as the top-assisting goalkeeper in its history, with seven to his name – two more than Paul Robinson. Renowned as perhaps the greatest ball-playing goalkeeper ever, his distribution was a key reason why City’s sporting director Txiki Begiristain identified him as the perfect signing back in 2017.
