Fabrizio Romano Drops Update on Rafael Leão to Arsenal Rumours

Arsenal’s reported pursuit of AC Milan star Rafael Leão has been firmly dismissed by transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, who insists the Portuguese forward was never on the club’s list of summer targets.

Responding to a fan’s question on Threads regarding whether the Gunners were still pursuing the AC Milan forward, Romano was unequivocal in his reply:

“Never been an option. Leão stays at Milan.”

The 25-year-old Portuguese international, widely regarded as one of Serie A’s most dynamic attackers, has been linked with several top European clubs in recent months. However, Romano’s update confirms that Leão will remain at the San Siro for the upcoming season, ending any speculation over a potential move to North London.

Arsenal are understood to be in the market for a specialist left winger this summer to provide additional attacking depth. Alongside Leão, Mikel Arteta’s side have also been linked with Real Madrid’s Rodrygo and Newcastle United’s Anthony Gordon.

Nevertheless, sources indicate that any major signing in this position will only materialise if one of the club’s current wide forwards — Leandro Trossard or Gabriel Martinelli — departs during the window.

For now, Arsenal’s pursuit of a high-profile left winger remains on standby, with Leão officially off the table.
