Liverpool fans are convinced that Mohamed Salah couldn’t hide his reaction to Declan Rice’s comments about the Premier League title race during the PFA Awards on Tuesday night.
The annual ceremony, held at the Manchester Opera House, brought together the Premier League’s biggest stars to celebrate individual and collective achievements. Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers was crowned the Men’s PFA Young Player of the Year, while Salah made history by becoming the first player to win the Men’s PFA Player of the Year award three times.
Elsewhere, Virgil van Dijk, Declan Rice, and Alexander Isak were included in the PFA Team of the Year, while Sir Gareth Southgate received the PFA Merit Award.
Naturally, with so many top names in attendance, discussion quickly turned to the ongoing Premier League season. That’s when fans spotted Salah’s subtle reaction to Rice’s remarks about Arsenal’s pursuit of the title.
Reflecting on Arsenal’s recent campaigns, Rice said:
“It’s been really tough, coming second three years in a row. But I’ve said it before, in life you’ve got to go through some small losses in order to win. We’re going to keep going, keep pushing, and hopefully something can come for us.”
While Rice’s comments were sincere, Liverpool fans online couldn’t help but notice Salah’s response. The Egyptian appeared to glance at teammate Virgil van Dijk, prompting plenty of reactions on social media.
Heading into the 2025/26 Premier League season, many expect the title race to once again be between Liverpool and Arsenal, following their fierce battle at the top of the table last year. Both sides opened the new campaign with wins, setting the stage for another intense rivalry.
The two teams will face off on August 31 at Anfield, in what could be an early defining moment in the title race.
