Emi Martinez wife Breaks Silence on Emi’s Emotional Outburst and Man United Links
Emiliano Martinez’s wife, Mandinha, has finally addressed the swirling rumors surrounding the Aston Villa goalkeeper’s future—offering clarity on his emotional gesture after the final home game of the 2024/25 Premier League season.
Martinez, who has been a standout performer for Villa, appeared emotional as he waved to supporters following the 3-3 draw with Tottenham. The moment sparked widespread speculation that the Argentine may have played his last game at Villa Park—especially with reports linking him to a potential summer move to Manchester United.
“He Wasn’t Crying – That’s Just Emi”
Speaking in an interview with Ed James on BBC WM, Mandinha was quick to dismiss the idea that her husband was saying goodbye.
“He wasn’t in tears. No,” she clarified. “Anybody who knows Emi knows he is an emotional character, and that’s who he is. It just shows you how much he loves the Villa fans. I love the Villa fans. We love Villa.”

Despite being under contract at Aston Villa until 2029, Martinez has yet to provide a definitive answer regarding his future. While on international duty with Argentina, he dodged questions about whether he plans to stay at Villa Park next season.
Meanwhile, Manchester United remain interested. The Red Devils reportedly considered a January approach for the World Cup winner, but Villa’s valuation proved too steep at the time. With André Onana’s form still under scrutiny, the club could revisit their interest this summer.
For now, fans will have to wait and see whether Martinez continues his journey at Aston Villa—or if a new challenge awaits him elsewhere.
