The uncertainty around Rodrygo’s future at Real Madrid continues to grow — and now even respected journalist José Félix Díaz from Marca has weighed in with a strong opinion.
Speaking on Rubén Martín’s Twitch channel, Díaz made it clear that the Brazilian’s time in Madrid could be coming to an end.
“I don’t think Rodrygo will stay,” he stated plainly, reflecting the growing doubts inside the club. His total lack of minutes in the Club World Cup clash against Pachuca — despite Kylian Mbappé’s absence — has only fueled the speculation.
Rodrygo was benched for the entire match, while youngsters like Arda Güler, Brahim Díaz, Gonzalo García, and Víctor Muñoz all featured ahead of him.
Díaz, however, urged caution, noting the extreme heat in Miami and the tight schedule, suggesting that squad rotation could still be a factor. “Ceballos didn’t play at all in the first match and then got 20 minutes in the next. These things happen,” he added.
No Call from Guardiola, No Official Offers (Yet)
Amid rumours linking Rodrygo with a move to Manchester City, Díaz shut down the talk — for now.
“As far as I know, Guardiola hasn’t called Rodrygo this year,” he revealed. Arsenal, meanwhile, have been mentioned as a possible destination, but again, nothing concrete has emerged. “There’s more talk about Arsenal than City, but I haven’t heard of any formal approach,” said Díaz.
While Real Madrid have yet to receive an official offer, the door remains slightly ajar. “It’s not that the case has been reopened — it was never closed,” Díaz explained, hinting that the club would be open to a sale if the right bid arrives.
Mastantuono Could Change Everything
Díaz also highlighted how Franco Mastantuono’s arrival could speed up Rodrygo’s departure. The young Argentine, who will join after the World Cup, is highly regarded within the club.
“He’s a locomotive,” Díaz described. “His presence, his style — he brings something special. He’ll shake things up.”
With Mastantuono expected to play a major role in the new-look squad, Rodrygo’s place appears increasingly under threat.
For now, Rodrygo remains a Real Madrid player. But all signs point towards him being one of the big names to leave the Bernabéu this summer — if the right offer lands on the table.
