Veteran Spanish defender Sergio Ramos, now 39 years old and playing for Club de Fútbol Monterrey Rayados in Mexico, made headlines today after scoring a powerful header against Inter Milan in the first half of the FIFA Club World Cup match in the United States.
Ramos rose above the Inter defenders and smashed the ball into the net from a corner kick, giving Monterrey an early lead. The fans went wild as the experienced defender celebrated in style, showing he still has what it takes at the highest level.
But the celebration didn’t last long. Just a few minutes later, Inter Milan’s star striker Lautaro Martínez found the equalizer, finishing calmly to make it 1–1 before halftime.
It’s been a thrilling first half between the Mexican and Italian sides, with more drama expected after the break.
