It looked like another routine night for Manchester City when the breakthrough arrived in the 31st minute. Antoine Semenyo reacted quickest inside the box, hooking home Rayan Cherki’s clever cross through a crowd of bodies to give City the lead against a Nottingham Forest side that had offered very little going forward.
Forest struggled to create much even after the break, but the game suddenly burst into life thanks to a moment of brilliance from Morgan Gibbs‑White. The midfielder produced a stunning backheel finish that slipped past Gianluigi Donnarumma to level the score at 1–1.
City responded quickly. Just six minutes later, Rodri rose highest to power a header into the net from Rayan Aït‑Nouri’s corner, restoring the advantage.
But Forest weren’t done yet.
In the 76th minute, Elliot Anderson produced a moment of magic, curling a beautiful strike from outside the box into the bottom corner to make it 2–2.
Then came the moment that defined the game.
Deep into stoppage time, chaos erupted inside Forest’s six-yard box. The ball fell kindly to Savinho, who managed to squeeze a shot toward the open goal through a crowd of players.
It looked destined to go in.
But defender Murillo had dropped back behind everyone — and with the final touch of the game, he smashed the ball clear off the line.
A stunning last-second clearance that denied City the winner and sealed a dramatic draw.
