Top ‘Hijack’ player is Set to join Manchester City but there is an obstacle.

With deadline day rapidly approaching, Manchester City are preparing for what could be a dramatic end to the transfer window. Pep Guardiola will be keen to finalise business early, ensuring new arrivals have time to adapt on the training ground.

City have already been busy, bringing in Tijjani Reijnders, James Trafford, Rayan Cherki, and Rayan Aït-Nouri, but the most high-profile addition could still be on the way — Gianluigi Donnarumma.

Donnarumma on the Verge of a Move to City

According to reports, Donnarumma has already agreed personal terms with Manchester City, leaving only final details between the clubs to be resolved. The Italian goalkeeper, currently at Paris Saint-Germain, has long been admired by Guardiola, though his more traditional style may require some adjustment to City’s possession-heavy system.

The expectation, as reported by The Athletic, is that the deal will be completed — but it may come right down to deadline day.

Ederson Exit Key to the Deal

For Donnarumma’s move to go through, one key domino must fall: Ederson’s departure. The Brazilian goalkeeper has attracted interest from Galatasaray, who recently tabled an £8.5 million offer. However, Ederson has yet to commit to the move, and his decision will determine whether Donnarumma can be unveiled as City’s latest signing.

Fabrizio Romano confirmed the situation, revealing that PSG have even reduced their asking price for Donnarumma from €50 million (£43m) to around €30–35 million (£25.9m–30.2m). Romano also noted that the 26-year-old is “ready” to join City, with everything now hinging on Ederson’s future.

No Competition From United, Rodrygo Staying Put

While Galatasaray are pushing to land Ederson, Manchester United have distanced themselves from any potential move for Donnarumma. That clears the path for City, who are his most realistic destination after leaving Paris.

Meanwhile, speculation linking City with Rodrygo has cooled, with reports suggesting the Brazilian winger will stay at Real Madrid this summer.

An ‘Extraordinary’ Addition?

Donnarumma has been described as “extraordinary” by Napoli star Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, and his arrival at the Etihad would undoubtedly make headlines across Europe. With PSG lowering their demands and the player eager to join, all eyes now turn to Ederson’s decision.

If the Brazilian accepts a move away, Manchester City could complete one of the most dramatic deadline-day deals in recent memory.
